Health regulations
Barring a Yellow Fever vaccinations for tourist coming from infected areas (South America and African countries ), there are no other vaccination requirements for tourists to India.

Restrictions for animal made articles
The government of India is concerned about the conservation of its endangered species of wildlife. With this, export of all wild animals to the country and articles made from such listed animals such as skin, pelts, furs, ivory, rhino horns, etc., have been totally banned.

Income tax clearance
An income tax clearance certificate is required, if a visitor intends to stay for more than 120 days. This document will prove that the visitor was financed by his own money and not by working or selling his goods.

The foreign section of the Income Tax Department at Delhi, Calcutta, Madras, and Bombay issues these certificates on presentation of the visitors passport, visa extension form and currency exchange receipts.

Customs regulations
Customs procedures have been made easy in the recent years. A declaration form is supplied while on board.

The usual duty-free regulations of one bottle of alcohol and 200 cigarettes apply for India as well. If a tourist brings in more than US$1000 in cash or travelers cheques, it must be declared upon completing a declaration form.

Prohibited articles include certain dangerous drugs, live plants and fire arms. Small items such as perfumes and cosmetic are allowed into the country. Larger items such as video cameras are likely to be declared on a Tourist Baggage Re-Export form to ensure that these articles are taken away on departure.
