Zunka
The most favourite meal of Maharashtra's farmers is zunka and bhakar,
now almost considered the most inexpensive and standard meal for any
worker.
Bhakris are made by patting a ball of dough,(bajra or jowar)
flour with water, into slim pancake-like rotis and then cooking them
one by one on a hot dry griddle. Bhakris can be small or large
depending on the taste of each household. For many rural poor, a
bhakri is breakfast, lunch and dinner, and most of the time, it is
eaten with a raw onion, a pungent garlic chutney and cooked
vegetables or meat or festive occasions.
